CT
preparation:
- Preparation can vary according to the type of CT
exam and your medical history. AHI will provide full instructions
before your exam.
- At the time of scheduling, let our staff know
if you are allergic to iodine. If so, we will specify appropriate
pre-medication procedures for you to follow 12 to 24 hours before
your exam.
- Let us know if you have limited kidney function or
kidney failure, a history of heart disease, any personal history of
cancer or diabetes, asthma, and current drug prescriptions.
- Your doctor may want you to receive a special contrasting
agent before your exam. We will either inject a special fluid into
your veins or provide it to you to ingest orally. If it is administered orally
we will ask you to arrive earlier.
- If you will be receiving a contrast agent (by either
method):
- It is very important to adequately prepare your
body by thoroughly hydrating yourself, beginning a few days before
your scheduled appointment. Continue to drink plenty of water-based
liquids after your exam.
- Other than a very light breakfast of juice and
plain toast, do not consume any meal for four hours prior to your
scheduled time.
